Job Summary:
The Military Psychologist will be responsible for providing psychological assessment, intervention, and support services to military personnel and their families. The incumbent will work closely with military commanders and health professionals to promote the psychological well-being of military personnel, assist in their personal and professional development, and contribute to the overall mission readiness of the military organization. The Military Psychologist will also play a vital role in identifying and addressing psychological issues that may arise during and after military operations.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Conduct comprehensive psychological assessments to evaluate military personnel's mental health status, including cognitive abilities, personality traits, and emotional well-being.
2. Deliver evidence-based therapeutic interventions and counseling to military personnel experiencing mental health challenges, such as post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), anxiety, depression, and adjustment disorders.
3. Provide crisis intervention and support services to military personnel in emergency situations or high-stress environments.
4. Develop and implement psychoeducational programs and workshops to enhance mental health resilience, stress management, and coping skills for military personnel and their families.
5. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including medical professionals, social workers, and chaplains, to ensure holistic care and treatment for military personnel.
6. Conduct research and contribute to the development of evidence-based practices in military psychology, with a focus on enhancing the mental well-being of military personnel.
7. Participate in the planning and execution of pre-deployment and post-deployment psychological screenings and assessments.
8. Provide consultation and guidance to military commanders and leaders regarding psychological factors impacting unit cohesion, morale, and mission effectiveness.
9. Maintain accurate and confidential documentation of all assessments, treatment plans, and interventions provided to military personnel.
10. Stay updated with the latest advancements in military psychology, attend professional development activities, and engage in continuous learning to enhance professional knowledge and skills.
Qualifications:
1. Master's or doctoral degree in psychology or a related field from an accredited institution.
2. Current and valid license to practice as a psychologist.
3. Specialization or experience in military psychology, trauma, and/or post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) preferred.
4. Knowledge of military culture, operational environments, and the unique challenges faced by military personnel and their families.
5. Proven ability to conduct psychological assessments, diagnose mental health disorders, and develop effective treatment plans.
6. Experience in delivering evidence-based therapeutic interventions to individuals and groups.
7. Strong understanding of crisis intervention techniques and ability to handle emergency situations effectively.
8. Excellent communication skills, including the ability to interact and collaborate with military personnel, commanders, and other professionals effectively.
9. Ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical standards in all aspects of work.
10. Proficiency in using computerized assessment tools and electronic health record systems.
